American Record Guide: The Great Book of Flute Sonatas, Vol. 6: Czech & American Works
The sixth album in this 7-part series presents Czech and American flute sonatas of the 20th Century. It also bids farewell to pianist Jozsef Gabor, who died in September 2017. These selections have been recorded many times, but Hungarian flutist Gergely Ittzes and his accompanist give us performances that rank with the best for their power and sensitivity. The sound is immediate and vivid, with excellent balance between the flute and piano and exquisite clarity in the piano part. Booklet notes, very brief, include English.
