Viennese Miniatures by Lanner & Schubert
by Lanner Quartet, Erika Miklós (soprano)
On their début album, Lanner Quartet plays early 19th century Viennese classics: the music of Franz Schubert and Joseph Lanner, the latter known as the Father of Waltz. Although waltz as a musical style was made popular by the Strauss family, the genre itself was invented by Lanner and it was his melodies that people in Vienna and Pest knew and sang. On this record, the quartet is joined by world famous soprano Erika Miklósa.
